Ingredients
2 cups of long-grain white rice
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Salt, to taste
4 cups of water
Instructions
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
Add the rice to the saucepan and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the rice grains are well coated with the oil.
Pour in the water and add salt to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and let the rice simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Tips & Tricks
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of turmeric or saffron to the rice while cooking.
If you prefer a richer taste, you can substitute vegetable oil with olive oil or butter.
To prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan, make sure to stir it occasionally while it’s simmering.
Leftover rice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
